Ethics and Cultural Models for Learning Design
Course description: "Course provides an opportunity to apply various learning principles into practice in online design. Students have an opportunity to investigate their faith in which learning design takes place, considering the interplay between content experts or subject matter experts and design methodology." IDT5120 at Trevecca Nazarene University
Instructor: Dr. Terry Hadaway
Reflection: This practical course offered the chance to put different learning principles into action within the field of online design. I created a six-module course or "textbook" using Articulate Rise 360, which linked my instructional design approach to real-world industry practices. The goal of my Rise "textbook" was to assist me in developing a learning philosophy that aligns with contemporary practices and is based on a strong comprehension of human learning processes.
The content of my Rise course primarily focused on explaining how the information I encountered in IDT 5120 shaped my perspectives and concepts related to the role of an instructional designer. My Rise "textbook" encompassed diverse learning theories and principles, such as Constructivism, Cognitivism, Behaviorism, Emotional Intelligence, Microlearning, and 21st Century Skills. Following that, my course explored the impact of learning theories on instructional design. During each course module, I utilized instructional design principles within the context of learning theories to develop instructional materials tailored to various learning modalities. Lastly, I had the chance to explore the role of faith in the learning design process while also examining how content experts or subject matter experts interact with design methodology.
