Project Management in Instructional Design and Technology

Course description: "Course examines the project management phase of the instructional design process. Learners will develop a plan and work in teams to complete “real world” projects that will include a template for design of a specific environment." IDT5110 at Trevecca Nazarene University

Instructor:  Dr. Ty Tabernik

Reflection: This fascinating course involved the application of Agile Scrum techniques to the process of course development. This procedure included assessing the criteria and prerequisites needed to create Agile Scrum user stories, establish priorities, and set timelines. Furthermore, learners assessed both course requirements and customer needs within the framework of initiating and executing course development. In conclusion, I gained insights into the various responsibilities within instructional design project management.

The second portion of IDT 5110 involved the creation of a design document for a training program within a specific workplace environment. This design document included the following elements:
  • Examine the traits and learning conditions of the learners.
  • Determine suitable learning objectives for the training program.
  • Perform a content task analysis to fulfill the learning objectives.
  • Define suitable goals for the identified learning activities.
  • Choose effective strategies to help learners accomplish their learning objectives.
  • Create and produce learning support materials, suitable assessment tools, assessment instruments, and a plan for formative evaluation.
  • Create a comprehensive schedule for the instructional development process.
