Instructional Design

Course description: "This course introduces the instructional design process, focusing on developing instructional goals, objectives, and assessment outcomes. Learners will investigate the various elements in the design process, such as needs assessment, common instructional problems, learner characteristics, task analysis, content sequencing, instructional strategies, instructional delivery, evaluation instruments, instructional resources (media selection), formative evaluation, summative evaluation." IDT5000 at Trevecca Nazarene University

Instructor:  Dr. Tasha Brown

Reflection: This fascinating and thorough course explored all aspects of the instructional design process. In addition, this course provided extensive detail about each stage of curriculum and instructional design. The main projects for this course were designing an instructional problem, completing an analysis, writing and sequencing objectives, matching those objectives to instructional strategies, then designing an instructional plan. Throughout course discussions, we explored various design elements, such as discussing the difference between goals and objectives, integrating a strategy with a learning problem, and exploring formative and summative evaluations. Furthermore, thought-provoking projects immersed me in design, theory, and instructional strategies. Additionally, Dr. Brown's instruction was essential as she illuminated course readings, assignments, and applied projects. As I apply this course to my career, Dr. Brown's extensive instructional design expertise is an invaluable tool for the future.
